Cheese in the Heartland: the Festival of Cheese Comes to Des Moines!
The American Cheese Society (ACS) will host its annual Festival of Cheese in beautiful Des Moines, Iowa!
The Festival of Cheese features 1,700+ cheeses of every imaginable style and flavor profile from the 2016 ACS Judging & Competition, highlighting the winners and celebrating the accomplishments of artisan cheesemakers throughout the Americas.
In addition to an awe-inspiring assortment of cheeses, attendees can sample specialty accompaniments ranging from charcuterie to chocolate -- plus samples of craft beer, cider, and more.
Just some of the items you can sample alongside the many cheeses at this event are:
-Canadian specialties from Foods of Quebec
-Cured meats, sausages, charcuterie, and pates from La Quercia, Red Table Meat Co., Fabrique Delices, Alexian Pate, Creminelli Fine Meats, Schaller & Weber, Olli Salumeria, Les Trois Petits Cochons, and Olympia Provisions
-Crispbread and crackers from 34 Degrees, La Panzanella, and Venus Wafers
-Specialty foods from Fortune Gourmet and Philosophy Foods
-Olive and nut oils from La Tourangelle
-Craft beer from Confluence Brewing Company
-Ciders from Wandering Aengus Ciderworks

As you exit the Festival, you will have the opportunity to browse the annual ACS Public Cheese Sale. Pick up some incredible artisan cheeses from producers around the country and Canada at amazing prices, all for a great cause! Cheese Sale proceeds benefit the nonprofit American Cheese Education Foundation (www.cheesefoundation.org).
The Festival of Cheese is open to the general public on Saturday, July 30 at the Iowa Events Center, from 7:00 - 9:30 PM. ACS members are admitted beginning at 6:00 PM.
Tickets are available for $60/person and include unlimited samples. A cash bar will also be available.
**Note: If you plan to attend the ACS Conference & Competition in Des Moines (July 27-30), the Festival of Cheese is included with a full conference registration or a Saturday Day Pass. Conference registration opens in May 2016.**
