Following the success of the 2014 inaugural event, Hudson Valley Community College will host its second Guitar Festival on Friday and Saturday, April 22 and 23, 2016, beginning at 10 a.m. each day. The two-day Guitar Festival is a celebration of electric, steel and nylon-string style guitars and bass guitar featuring guitarists and luthiers from the greater Capital Region. The event features various styles of music including blues, bluegrass, classical, flamenco, gypsy, jazz, metal, rock and roll, rhythm and blue, roots, rockabilly and western swing.
Hands-on playing workshops with Graham Tichy, Lori Friday, Mark Gamsjager, Scott Collins, Christopher Gotzen-Berg, Michael Dimin, Thomasina Winslow, Chuck D'Aloia, Kenny Hohman, Sten Isachsen, Bernie Mulleda, Mike McMann, Gary Cellucci, David LaPlante, Chris Chapman, Joe Lowry, Ray Andrews, Monica Roach, and Maria Zemantauski are scheduled over the two days. In addition, luthiers Michael Collins and Eric Marczak lead a workshop, while additional sessions with Madison Peruzzi cover guitar set-up, maintenance and special effects.
Performances include a blues jam with Super 400, an open mic hosted by Caroline Motherjudge on Friday, plus GX3 and Korisoron in concert on Saturday afternoon.
