Parade
The Tony Award winning masterpiece makes its Madison premiere on the MTM stage. The musical tells the true story of Leo Frank, a Jew living in Atlanta in 1913 and charged with the murder of a 13 year old girl in the pencil factory he managed. Frank was quickly targeted because of his upper class status, awkward demeanor and Jewish religion. Found guilty and sentenced to death, Frank's case became the focus of national debate, propelled a corrupt administration into Georgia's public office, ended a governor's political career forever and resulted in the founding of the Anti-Defamation League.
Part mystery, part courtroom drama, and part love story, Parade is a thrilling work of musical theatre not to be missed.
Select performances, including a special event on July 29th, will include speaker Matthew Bernstein, author of Screening A Lynching: The Leo Frank Case on Film and Television.
