On Thursday, April 28th, its time to dress to the nines and head to the beautiful Fort Garry Hotel for our 10th anniversary fundraiser Swingin in Spring!
This Big Band fundraiser will transport you back to the golden era of jazz the time when big band dances were all the rage. Featuring Conga Jim, a live seven-piece band, your feet will be cutting all types of rugs as you dance the night away to music from the 20s, 30s and 40s. Get your ready to shuffle to some salsa, waltz with your baby, glide to some jazz and fling those limbs to some swing Conga Jim is sure to tickle every music pleasure bone.
Meet us in the Concert Ballroom where there are hors doeuvres to be enjoyed, dessert by Jenna Rae Cakes to be tasted and where prizes can be won. Socialize, laugh, nibble on some nosh, and dance the evening away all in support of White Rabbit Productions with partial proceeds going to the Never Alone Foundation.

FAQ
Do I have to know how to swing dance to attend? No. This fundraising dance is for all types of dancers and big band jazz lovers in general. We want all people to enjoy a good ol fashioned dance so if you love to waltz, salsa, glide to some jazz and swing dance weve got you covered.
What time does the event run? 7-10:00 pm. But doors open at 6:30 pm so come on by early for a cocktail.
How much is a ticket? $39
Is this a sit down dinner? No, but there will be appetizers served throughout the night by the lovely staff of the Fort Garry.
What type of food will be available? Appetizers will be served throughout the night such as Grilled Zuchinni, Red Peppers, Goat Cheese and Mint on Toast, Crab Cakes, Chilled Tomato Soup with Guacamole Shooters, Bison Meatballs with spicy Saskatoon Berry Glaze. In addition there will be a cheese,pickle and olives station along with two delicious cakes by Jenna Rae Cakes.
How dressy should we get? As dressy as you want. The dance party pays homage to the 1920s, 30s and 40s the swing era so dress to the times or dress to 2016. Its up to you!
What kind of prizes are there? A door prize and silent auction prizes with a draw at the end of the night for the winners. We also have an early bird prize for those who buy their tickets before March 20th.
What is the purpose of the event? To raise funds for two non-profits in our city White Rabbit Productions (thats us!) and the Never Alone Foundation. Never Alone does great things in our city for those affected by cancer in fact, monies raised for them go directly to the individuals. They are a great organization doing great things. Who's Conga Jim? Conga Jim is an eclectic 7-piece big band led by Jonathan Alexiuk with guest jazz singer, Jodie Borle. Playing tunes from the 20s, 30s and 40s the bands sound is influenced by Louis Prima, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Cherry Poppin Daddies, and big band swing. Made up of Winnipeg musicians that have played with the likes of Ron Paley Band and the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra, these hep cats are sure to keep you up on your feet dancing the night away.
