Sheepshearing 2016
Now in its 29th year, this outdoor farm festival has become a family favorite and a tradition throughout the region! Enjoy demonstrations of sheep-shearing, herding dogs, spinning, weaving and gardening on a beautiful 50 acre estate. Large crafts fair, live entertainment, historic demonstrators, games and farm animals. Wagon rides and museum tours (additional charge). Food vendors on site. Free parking.
Children 12 and under are free, and they must be accompanied by an adult.
A must see is Dave Kennard and his fabulous herding dogs. Throughout this day-long festival, Dave and his border collie entertain the crowds by demonstrating how a shepherd and his dogs control a flock of sheep. It's amazing to watch the economy of movement as the collies herd the flock around a series of obstacles and into the pen.
Kevin Ford and Andy Rice will offer live shearing demonstrations. Kevin is one of the few professional shearers still using traditional shears, while Andy uses modern electric shears. Their performances always end in cheers!
