Transforming black-&-white neorealism into multicolored rhythm and energy, Director Theodoros Bafaloukos not only revolutionizes reggae in this Jamaican cult classic, he also foreshadows the present-day docu-drama. Many legendary artists play themselves, including Gregory Isaacs, Big Youth and Burning Spear, their music leading a blood-pumping soundtrack from Island Records. Drawing inspiration from Vittorio de Sica's Bicycle Thieves, Bafaloukos cooks up something that could only have originated on the streets of Kingston.
