"Man Interrupted: Why Young Men are Struggling & What We Can Do About It"
World-famous psychologist Philip Zimbardo-widely known for his 1971 Stanford Prison Experiment-joins writer Nikita Coulombe to discuss their new book "Man, Interrupted."
"Zimbardo has put his finger on a great challenge of the modern era, which is how to hang on to the social skills that humanity has accrued over centuries now that virtual reality has no need for them." Eleanor Mills, The Sunday Times
Young men are falling out of society in droves. In an uncertain and ever-changing world, a whole generation is retreating to virtual worlds that young men find more rewarding than facing reality. In "Man, Interrupted," Dr. Zimbardo explores the causes, including:
Video games The accessibility of online pornography Divorce and widespread fatherlessness Negative media portrayals of men
Failing school environments
The recent economic downturn
Join the authors for a serious conversation about a lost generation and solutions to bring them back into the world. Philip Zimbardo, professor emeritus at Stanford, has served as President of the American Psychological Association and designed and narrated the award winning 26-part PBS series, Discovering Psychology. He is also the founder and present of the Heroic Imagination Project.
Donnovan Somera Yisrael is Manager of Emotional and Sexual Health Programs for the Vaden Health Center at Stanford University.
