QUEBEC WINDFEST : Lori Freedman + Quasar and guest Nava Dunkelman
Five of North America's most adventurous exponents of new music for woodwinds will stop in San Francisco for the first time. This double-bill unites, for the first time, livewire clarinet soloist Lori Freedman with Quasar's stellar quartet of saxophone virtuososMarie-Chantal Leclair, Mathieu Leclair, André Leroux and Jean-Marc Bouchard. Freedman performs selected works from her touring solo program playing works by Brian Ferneyhough, Richard Barrettand teams up with Quasar for her own composition,No Man's Clan(1996/2015). Quasar will perform works by Linda Bouchard and and Ulo Krigul before a rousing finale with Freedman, and Quasar performing Fred Frith'sThe Big Picture(2012) with guest percussionist Nava Dunkelman.
