The premier of a video narrated by Grammy Award winner Tom Chapin features interviews with individuals describing life 'back in the day'. "Piermont's Factory Days" takes us into the paper mill and shows the symbiotic relationship between the factory and the village. Long before the condominiums, the pier was the location of the town's paper factory. Robert Gair, self-made businessman, purchased the factory in'20 and invented the folding cardboard box, modernizing retail packaging. The giant flywheel that powered the machines stubbornly remains on the pier today as a testament to Piermont's industrial past. Easily mistaken for an art sculpture, the rusty piece of machinery gives Flywheel Park its name. Come to the "Papermill Speakeasy" dressed as a flapper or simply dress as you'd like and support the work of the PHS to preserve the village's rich history!
