BRENDA BERGMAN
This is what the writer Grady Hendrix has to say about Brenda:
At my wedding Brenda wanted to sing "Be My Baby" - why, I don't know. But when Brenda wants to sing something you just get out of her way. On the day of, she showed up three hours late, didn't have time to rehearse, stressed everyone to their limits and then at the end of the ceremony she burst out with "Be My Baby" and it was quite possibly the greatest version of that song ever unleashed in the history of music, like the cavalry charging to the rescue at the eleventh hour. Only 140 people heard this performance and it will never be repeated. Hell, Brenda probably couldn't sing it that way again. It's lost in time. But physicists say that electromagnetic waves never die, every transmission television, radio, wireless mics continues to travel through space at the speed of light, rolling out across the universe, forever. And somewhere, on some planet, one day this song will pass someone like a standing wave and they'll think, "Holy fuck. What is that voice? That voice sounds just like heaven."
