Dancin' Unlimited Jazz Dance Company presents Convergence 2016 as its 30th Annual Jazz & Tap Dance Festival. Convergence 2016 is produced as a collaboration by Marilyn York, the Dancin' Unlimited Artistic Director, with seven other area dance companies.
Convergence 2016 presents the evolution of American jazz dance with the other dance styles, fusing them into new, appealing presentations that are vital, fresh, rhythmic, energetic. The show is representative of our national dance spirit as it synthesizes the dance art that honors original street dance techniques jazz dance with contemporary inspiration.
Choreographers are mixing and merging the classic entertainment dance styles of jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary, and Broadway. Each dance company brings something unique to the stage that may blend jazz with hip hop, tap with jazz, or modern dance with a contemporary flair.
Joining Dancin' Unlimited, are Capitol Movement, Confuzion, iMpulse (Metropolitan School of the Arts), JaM Project/JaM Youth Project, MYTE (Metropolitan Youth Tap Ensemble), Seton Hill Dance Company, and fusiondance.
As a new artistic revue, Convergence 2016 will be performed on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 8 PM, and Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 4 PM at the Northern Virginia Community College Annandale Campus Theater.
The Northern Virginia Community College Annandale Campus Theater is located at 8333 Little River Turnpike in Annandale Virginia, and is conveniently located near the Route 495 Capital Beltway at Exit 52-A.
Parking on campus is free in Lot B. Theater doors open 30 minutes prior to the show. Please arrive early to facilitate parking and getting to your seat.
All patrons must have a ticket regardless of age. This show is family friendly.
