Rainbow Chamber Concert in Mill Valley
Musicians from the Bay Area Rainbow Symphony www.BARS-SF.org will perform works by Dvorak, Farrenc, and local composer Joseph Stillwell. The chamber groups include a string quartet, a woodwind quintet, and a mixed nine-piece "nonet."
The Bay Area Rainbow Symphony is dedicated to promoting and supporting LGBTQ musicians and composers, and features works from the baroque to contemporary periods.
Members of the Rainbow Symphony first took an interest in the Community Church of Mill Valley <www.millvalleyucc.org> after a rainbow flag posted outside the church in support of gay rights was vandalized in 2013.
The historic brown-shingled church, built in 1929, has a long history of social justice activism. The benefit concert will help to maintain and preserve this local landmark.
