Joseph Keckler at Pangea
After a stint in Europe and the Midwest, vocalist and writer Joseph Keckler returns to Pangea to present an intimate evening of original torch songs, operatic deaths, and strange tales drawn from life to ring in the new year.
Joseph Keckler is a singer, writer, and interdisciplinary artist. He is currently the Witt Artist in Residence at The University of Michigan Stamps School of Art & Design, where he has begun a new durational performance piece of death scenes, Let Me Die.
He Recently made his off-broadway debut as Chaliapin in Dave Malloy's Preludes at Lincoln Center Theater. In the past Keckler'swork has been featured on BBC America and WNYC Soundcheck and his piece I am an Opera was commissioned by Dixon Place. In 2013 The Village Voice named him "Best Downtown Performance Artist." The recipient of a Franklin Furnace Grant and a Fellowship in Interdisciplinary Work from New York Foundation for the Arts, he has been awarded multiple residencies at MacDowell and Yaddo. He is currently working on a new album and a collection of essays.
