Pulse Dance Company in Concert 2016
Pulse Dance Company's season finale concert premieres five works, three different perspectives, and five uniquely varied dance pieces in the culminating performance of their sixth season. This invigorating production highlights local and national collaborations in highly imaginative choreographic languages.
Anchorage choreographer Stephanie Wonchala presents three vastly different works, exploring intimacy, empowerment, and bittersweet departure from innocence in "La Femme," as well as quirky, eccentric societal habits in "(h)yoomen/." Audiences will be transported to a heart-warming, simpler time with the premiere of "The Lovers," a short dance-on-film created in celebration of the Anchorage Centennial.
BodyVox choreographer Josh Murry unveils "Harmonious Faction," a full-force, non-stop delight of canons, partnering, and fast surprises. Award-winning guest artist Barry Kerollis, formerly of Pacific Northwest Ballet, intrigues with "REM," a quartet that transports viewers into a mesmerizing dreamscape.
With music ranging from techno drums to Kronos Quartet, audiences will enjoy raw, unexpected beauty shifts from large ensembles into breathtaking solos and intimate duets.
PERFORMANCES: February 19-21 & 26-28, 2016 Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, Sundays at 6:00pm APU Grant Hall Theatre.
