CASA Launch Event
CASA Latin American Theatre Festival is launching its programme of events for 2012 with an evening of drama, poetry and music at Bolivar Hall on the 23rd May. This will be the first in a series of rehearsed readings of classic Latin American texts in translation, that will also feature a post-show discussion on the life and work of the writer.
We have chosen Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, one of Mexico's most revered writers to open this season. As well as readings of her poetry in English and Spanish there will be a rehearsed reading of House of Desires, directed by Simon Evans, followed by a discussion lead by Professor Catherine Boyle of Kings' College - the translator of this work.
As well as all the above, plus music we are offering a complimentary drink courtesy of our friends at Cusqeña for all people that reserve their ticket in advance
This is a great opportunity to find out more about this great writer but to also get to know the CASA team and what we stand for, and to find out about our programme we have planned for 2012.
Can't wait to see you there.
