In the world première of this new production, the place is somewhere East of the West. The time is colonial. Some are born to greatness. That's not Tartuffe. Some achieve greatness. That's not him either. Some have greatness thrust upon them. Nope, still not him. Tartuffe was born of no one and comes from God knows where. Deep down, he loves life, women, and food with a passion. So, to survive in this world and feed his secret passions, he plays the long con, the very long con: rigor and spiritual devotion, that's his modus operandi. From the day Orgon took him under his wing and brought him under his roof, there has been a snake in the house, or possibly more than one. The question is: Who will bite whom?
Come hear Tartuffe in English with the music, the humor, and the amble of the original Alexandrine verse. Tartuffe as, we believe, you have never heard or seen it before!
