Acts of Faith Festival at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart -- The Jeweler's Shop: a meditation on the sacrament of matrimony, passing on occasion into a drama
The Jeweler's Shop: a meditation on the sacrament of matrimony, passing on occasion into a drama, written by St. John Paul II, is the late pontiff's most famous play. Presumably set in Europe just before WWII through the post-war period, this play opens the marital relationship from 3 perspectives: young and newly engaged; amidst a mid-life crisis; soon-to-be-married yet worried about becoming the vices of their parents. Questions of morality, timing, free will, suffering, hope and fear bubble to the surface as we journey with each couple to the final scene: a wedding.
