Once upon a time we lived in darkness.
So we made light.
Once upon a time we braced the cold.
So we made warmth.
Once upon a time we felt hunger.
So we grew food.
Once upon a time we fell sick.
So we found cures.
Once upon a time we were ignorant.
So we explored.
There is still darkness and suffering in the world.
Our work is far from over.
We have not reached the end of our story.
But we have come far, and we have learned much.
Let us gather together on the darkest day of the year to celebrate the light that is humanity.
Join us for food, drinks, songs, laughter, reflection, and celebration as we recall what has come before and reach for a brighter tomorrow.
