CRIS WILLIAMSON IN CONCERT: PFLAG BENEFIT
Cris Williamson is, "about the best writer and interpretive singer around," said Bonnie Raitt. She is also an environmentalist and humanitarian. With 30-some recordings to her credit, Cris Williamson is best know for her classic album, The Changer And The Changed. Released in 1975 on Olivia Records, this music became the soundtrack of a movement, and was key in the launch of what would become known as "women's music," music which was created, performed, and marketed specifically by and for women. With this, she helped pave the way for today's independent women artists. Today, this record remains a favorite of so many people, and one of the best-selling independent releases of all time. A Black Hills native, raised in the Rockies, much of Cris's music is about returning home to her beloved West, paying tribute to the Mountains, the Prairies and the People she holds so dear.
PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) celebrates diversity and envisions a society that embraces everyone, including those of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. Only with respect, dignity and equality for all will we reach our full potential as human beings, individually and collectively. PFLAG welcomes the participation and support of all who share in and hope to realize this vision.
PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through: - Support to cope with an adverse society - Education to enlighten an ill-informed public, and - Advocacy to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.
