Theatre of War
The Spektral Quartet and High Concept Laboratories present "Theatre of War," an artistic investigation of the contemporary disconnect between the experiences of most citizens and those of people directly impacted by war. Hosted by Chicago's historic Chopin Theatre, this concert event takes place just days after the city bids farewell to the NATO summit and will raise funds for veterans in the arts.
Anchored by a performance of George Crumb's landmark quartet "Black Angels," the Spektral Quartet has enlisted the participation of colleagues from the world of theater, (with a dramatic interpretation of Virginia Konchan's "Blackbird"), film (featuring 3 short films from embedded filmmaker Richard Mosse), and music (Grammy-winning pianist Lisa Kaplan performs "Stress Position" by Drew Baker) in an endeavor to look at the serious subject of war from many artistic viewpoints.
Ticket-sale proceeds will benefit the Vet Art Project (www.vetartproject.com), an organization that provides opportunities for veterans and their families to work in collaboration with artists to create art about war and service, and to foster discussion about how war and service affect us all
