"I Am" Nancy Magarill
Nancy Magarill is a one of a kind artist, producer, composer and performer. She was a recipient of ASCAP's Abe Olman Emerging Songwriter award and has performed in various clubs and theaters in New York City, the US and Europe. Nancy was a performer in Chris Rael's "Araby" at Dixon Place and the New York Fringe Festival and is currently working on creating her own musical theater projects.
She has several indie releases to her name. Her last record, "the Carousel" is an eclectic mix of poetry, pop and circumstance. Produced by Daniel Mintseris (Alice Smith, Marianne Faithful & St. Vincent) and co-produced by Nancy, it's an infusion of vocals, soaring strings, drums, beats and the usual twists and turns in storytelling that can only come from this no-holds-barred lyricist/composer. No subject is taboo, no lyric frivolous and all captivating, beautiful and memorable.
She also scored the award winning indie feature "Without" with cellist Dave Eggar and a host of projects with Daniel for their company, MMmusicLab. She served as "resident composer" for NYU Tisch School of the Art's classical studio (composing contemporary and classical scores for Shakespeare and main stage productions). She created the score for Gabrielle Lansner's "Talking Heads, Frocks In Flight" performed at NYC's River To River Festival and composed the music for Yung-Li Dance's "Monkey on My Back" which premiered at Merce Cunningham studios and I-Danse's "Tellus" at NYC's Dixon Place Theater.
"I Am" is Nancy's return to her roots; taking a journey back in an effort to uncover her inner diva through voice and song.
