A Salon of the Romantics with pianist Sarah Takagi
"Riveting, electric and powerful"; "Brilliant pianist . . . who exudes spirit, vehemence and power" Sarah Takagi (www.SarahTakagi.com)
The program begins with excerpts from her CD "Lavender Bouquet" which will draw out the calming and introverted elements of the quieter romantics, then with the Papillons, we journey back to the world with bright, youthful fleeting moments. What follows is an extreme juxtaposition of Bartok's Barbarism contrasting with the pristine beauty of Chopin's Andante Spianato. The program ends on lighthearted offerings by Debussy and Gershwin.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Since making her debut with the orchestra at age 11, Sarah Takagi has performed numerous concerts in the U.S., Canada and Japan, including the the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D. C. and at Carnegie Recital Hall in New York. She has been invited to appear with Leon Fleisher as a soloist on the PBS show "Musical Encounter", as well as on WGMS Radio's "Spotlight Hour" broadcast.
Experience Ms. Takagi's music up close in a salon recital with Greater Boston House Concerts. Featuring music from her solo debut album by Chopin, Albéniz, Ginatstera, Brahms and improvisations by Sarah.
A brief 'Talk-Back' with Sarah will follow the concert and then a meet-the-artist reception.
Free parking is available on Virginia Street.
About Greater Boston House Concerts GBHConcerts began as a dream by founder Aaron Larget-Caplan to share arts and culture in an intimate neighborhood setting. With the first official concert in May 2011, Greater Boston House Concerts is creating a network for artists to perform and share their work outside of the concert hall. With a focus on classical and world music (acoustic), GBHConcerts has hosted six concerts to date with artists coming from the Boston area as well as Spain and Italy. Each event is followed by a meet-the-artist reception and is also ticketed with the proceeds going to the artists. Upcoming concerts include pianist Sarah Takagi in April and composer/pianist John McDonald in May.
