"Bird In The House" (unplugged) by Dane Terry
Strange lights in the sky, missing dogs, living rooms full of static. Somewhere in America, a boy's bedroom ceiling is slowly falling on him. Volton Destroyer Of Stars has come at last... Composer/performer Dane Terry paints eerie scenes from a queer American adolescence.
Dane Terry is a storyteller and composer. A recalcitrant child of America, he intones the surreal worlds of drunks, sleeping skyscrapers and wartime space travel like an uncle spinning yarns, his liquid country-western piano sloshing all the while underneath his earthy warble. His solo shows include Bird In The House (La Mama), A Chimebox Sermon (Dixon Place) and The Future Lies West (Bowery Poetry Club). Apart from his solo work he has collaborated with many artists including writer, monologuist and songwriter David Cale in Hello, Cowboy (Dixon Place) and multi-media artist Yoshiko Chuma in π= 3.14... NOTHINg, or EVERYTHINg... (La Mama, Ellen Stewart). He will present new work at Afterglow Festival in Provincetown MA this September.
"...a natural-born storyteller, a wizard whose power to delight, crack up, and terrify an audience comes from the traditions of the uniquely American world he brings so vividly to life..." - Drew Harper, GAYLETTER
