Folk revivalist JOANNE RAND (http://www.joannerandmusic.com/) has appeared with Bonnie Raitt, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Holly Near, Janis Ian and many others. Rand has toured for 25 years and produced 12 CD, and her 2009 release of "Snake Oil & Hummingbirds" was submitted for Grammy nomination.
Writing and playing music since childhood in the deep south, Rand cut her performance teeth playing bluegrass in Alaska. She spent six formative years touring the Pacific Northwest wilderness, fully launching her career in California's North Bay Area, where she remains revered as one of the region's finest independent artists.
Recording artist George Winston says Rand plays "Great stories (with) deep feelings," and Pulitzer Prize winner and beat poet Gary Snyder says Rand's music "Raises your hair (with) elegance and fierceness in the same deep breath." The Santa Cruz Weekly says that "Through her songs, Rand traverses love, politics, conservation, spirituality and life with a seasoned-to-perfection voice."
