An Evening of Cuban Ballet, featuring Alberto Méndez's Muñecos
An evening of Cuban ballet highlights: a panoramic overview of the Cuban school of ballet--inside and outside the Island--by Octavio Roca (distinguished music and dance critic and author of the definitive book on Cuban ballet); a tribute to Caridad Martínez, former principal dancer of Ballet Nacional de Cuba, in recognition of her long and distinguished career as a dancer, choreographer and teacher; and a staging of Alberto Méndez's Muñecos, with dancers from Ballet Hispanico.
