Living the Dream 2012
Celebrating Six Years of Building a More Sustainable Future!
Come mingle amongst the who's-who of sustainability and environmental finance at Dream in Green's 6-Yr. Anniversary Fundraiser, 'Living the Dream!' The event is hosted by the eco-fabulous Palms Hotel & Spa, and provides 3-hours of complimentary natural hors d'oeuvres and luscious eco- cocktails, live music and the Annual Green Innovator Awards, recognizing South Florida's green innovators.
Monies raised through the Annual Fundraiser are used to implement the Green Schools Challenge. This year, one-hundred and sixty-five schools are participating in the program which creates 'green teams' of teachers, school staff and students that set measurable reduction goals for decreasing energy, water and waste. The program focuses on behavior-only changes and provides students with real-world, hands-on learning experiences that foster sustainable behaviors at school, at home and within the community. Last year, 105 Green Schools Challenge schools saved the School District over $1.4 million in energy costs while conserving over 2.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity and reducing or offseting 5.6 million pounds of carbon dioxide.
Dream in Green is a community partner of the Miami-Dade County Public School District and Miami-Dade County's Office of Sustainability. Dream in Green is funded by grants from Miami-Dade County and donations from Dream in Green's corporate sponsors.
