Diamano Coura West African Dance Company's Home Season 2015
Diamano Coura West African Dance Company will perform and present Sekelati (Longevity) 40 Years of Longevity and Bringing the Message 1975-2015 debuting The Forbidden Bush to represent the dynamism, vibrancy, and diversity of the African Diaspora. The highly acclaimed company will perform Saturday, November 28th at 8:00 PM and Sunday, November 29th at 3:00 PM at the Odell Johnson Theater (Laney College), 900 Fallon Street in Oakland, CA.
Saturday November 21st, 6:00-9:00 PM the week prior, the company will host a Celebration Reception to honor the many unsung dancers and musicians who have come through and gone on and the next generation of leaders and performers who are still in the company and destined to continue its legacy. Diamano Coura is reaching out to the community to help contact former company members and collaborators because the reception will reflect the organization's deep desire to reconnect and celebrate those who've surrounded the company over the years! Tickets to the reception entitle the holder to an evening of food & drink, Silent Auction, music and memories. The reception will be held at the Betti Ono Gallery, 1427 Broadway in downtown Oakland. The gallery is accessible by BART at the City Center station.
