GOD vs. Hall & Oates
ADDITONAL DATE ADDED...MAY 12 at 4PM
"GOD vs. Hall & Oates" runs from March 31 to May 12, 2012 on Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. (running time of 60 minutes). "GOD vs. Hall & Oates" pits the creator of everything against the most successful musical duo of all time. It is sin versus the existence of no sin. It is the Good Book against "She's Gone" and "Maneater". God has his book and now Sean Benjamin and Steve Mosqueda have written the opposing view. Why Hall & Oates? Many reasons including the seven platinum albums, the sinful lyrics, and Daryl Hall's dabbling in Thelema in his early days of fame. Thelema is the religion/philosophy founded by writer and magician Aleister Crowley, ("Mr. Crowley" from Black Sabbath fame) based upon the edict, "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law." Benjamin and Mosqueda will present their arguments and maybe even channel Hall & Oates to help bring down the myth of the seven deadly sins...or at least make them less deadly. And, of course, God will have her say. In true Drinking & Writing fashion, literature and alcohol will be a large part of the process. The fight will be backed up by literary references from the Bible to Chaucer to Jim Morrison to Chicago's very own Dan Savage, author of "Skipping Towards Gommorah. The show also features Carolyn Shoemaker from Trap Door Theatre and Drinking & Writing's hit Christmas show "A Beer Carol".
