Tina DeVaron at Pangea
Singer/songwriter Tina deVaron, a deeply rooted New York musician and hit songwriter, will appear at Pangea on November 9th at 7:30pm to celebrate the independent release of her CD, Tuckerman's Ravine. On this original melodic and contemplative folk-influenced recording, she reflects on family, creativity and a woman's place in the world. Tuckerman's Ravine was produced by deVaron's son, Billboard Top 100 songwriter and producer Nick Lerangis.
The multi-talented deVaron has a wide-ranging career. She is a two-time Billboard-charting songwriter for the songs Adore You which was recorded by the Grammy-nominated group, Anointed, and reached #1 on the Gospel chart and If I Close My Eyes, which rose to #2 on the dance radio chart. Her musical, Perfect Mothers, was chosen as one of broadway.com's Top Ten NYMF Shows to see in the 2013 New York Musicals Festival's Reading Series and was a Next Link NYMF finalist in 2014. The reading featured Tony winner Adriane Lenox and Tony nominees Nancy Opel and Jenn Colella, along with other Broadway veterans Kenita Miller (The Color Purple) and Amy Bodnar (Ragtime). Last winter, deVaron presented an evening of her original music at Metropolitan Room, and once again was joined by a group of Broadway stars, including Liz Larsen and Sal Viviano. She is currently a member of the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop.
deVaron plays jazz piano at New York's most swank rooms, and will begin her 11th season in November at Bemelmans Bar at the Carlyle, hosting Madeline's Tea. She began her career as an undergraduate at Princeton University, and after moving to New York secured a long-running engagement as pianist at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel performing on Cole Porter's piano. She lives in Manhattan with her husband, New York Times bestselling author Peter Lerangis, where they raised their two sons, Nick and Joe.
