Raconteurs Storytelling & The COC present "LOVE LOST" and "THE MUSE"
TALL TALES, FANTASTICAL FABLES, HOFFMANN & RACONTEURS
Raconteurs and Canadian Opera Company present two evenings of storytelling inspired by the COC's production of Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffmann. On each night, storytellers will rhapsodize on a theme related to the opera "Love Lost" on March 14, and "The Muse" on March 15. The stories do not have to be opera-related, but they must be true.
Patrons of the bar will be able to drown their sorrows in their drink of choice or they may try the Hoffmanninspired by the real E.T.A. Hoffmann whose stories of lost love became the inspiration for this opera.
Raconteurs produces monthly events that bring people together to share real-life stories on stage without notes. They strive to ignite the storyteller in everyone.
The Tales of Hoffmann
A drunken poet sits at a bar, recalling his lost loves to his fellow drinkers. But this is no ordinary barfly: Hoffmann is a writer of fantastical fables. As he spins his dark reminiscences, they come to life before us and resonate with a universal truth. Hoffmann embodies the archetype of every tortured artist, torn between his search for love and the demands of his creative muse.
