One Night in India - Give kids a chance
We are so excited to be putting on this amazing event in Bristol as a benefit concert for Ramana's Garden Children's Home in Rishikesh, India. And we are all doing this together for the kids out of love, giving them the chance of a life full of opportunities and hope for their future! We would love you to join us in supporting them.
The theme of the night is INDIA! with live Indian music and a bustling Indian style market selling Indian snacks, drinks and other goodies. The event itself will open at 6pm for the market, food & drinks and meeting up with all your friends and we finish at 11pm. The event is fully hosted and we are live-streaming it worldwide so we really will be part of the global family!
We have an incredible line up of accomplished international musicians to open your hearts and lift your soul, and get those feet tapping:
Praful is a master sax & flute player, producer, charismatic performer and pioneer in the world music community. He embraces Jazz, Soul, Dance, Indian and New World Fusion with grace and passion. Praful's 8 solo albums garnered great international success. Sika Through merging ancient and contemporary instruments, Sika's music crosses the lines between world, ambient dance and acoustic trance, with a deep sense of reverence. His instrument bundle includes the Didgeridoo, Taos Drum, Shells, Ocarinas, Rattles and Shakers, Hoop Drums, Native American Flutes, as well as synths and electronica.
Sudha is much loved for her beautiful chants and songs, and meditative and devotional mantras. She is perhaps best known for the track Om Bhagavan which has played in many yoga classes and alternative radio stations around the world. Performing around the globe since 2002, her singing transmits the divine energy of oneness
Tarisha's music is inspired by the earth, nature, people and love. Many songs are dedicated to women and the Goddess, a celebration of both her and others' journey into womanhood. A former member of the pioneering band Prana, and then Seize the Day, Tarisha writes & sings haunting and uplifting ballads, often with a shamanic influence, and plays keyboard, flute and guitar.
Indian band & dancers (tbc) These special guests will get you dancing in your seats and down the aisles!
There will be a special video message from the incredible Deva Premal & Miten who have donated 100 CDs to us.Flame carriers of a 5,000 year old tradition, Deva Premal and Miten are at the forefront of the burgeoning world-wide chant phenomenon. They are one of the major contributors to the soundtrack of just about every 21st century alternative healing modality, from rehab/detox/stress management clinics to yoga studios, spas and meditation centres, shamanic gatherings and ceremonies in the depths of the Amazon, and throughout the world, merging ancient mantras of India and Tibet with contemporary musical settings.
Ramana's Garden was set up 25 years ago and run by Prabhavati Dwabha (originally from the U.S.) and is still flourishing today. It is a Non-Profit Organisation (501c3) and continues to inspire and empower all 69 children who live there.
Their school offers free places to local children as well as to the project children, a total of 168 in all. All the children have come to Ramana's as a last resort. Their parents are either dead, or have abused or abandoned them. Despite these harsh beginnings, they are now thriving in an environment of love, empowerment and creativity. We would like to assist Dwabha in her efforts to keep this as their reality.
