Five Fridays: Rebecca Myers Hoke with the Prometheus Chamber Orchestra
Soprano Rebecca Myers Hoke will join the Prometheus Chamber Orchestra is celebrating five years of Five Fridays concerts in a special gala performance on November 13 at 7:30 pm.
About Rebecca Hoke Recently described in the San Francisco Chronicle as singing with "an appealing blend of vulnerability and grace" Rebecca Myers Hoke is a solo and ensemble singer who performs in and around the Philadelphia area. Rebecca has appeared as a chorister and soloist with The Santa Fe Desert Chorale, American Bach Soloists Academy, Choral Arts Philadelphia, The Bach Collegium Philadelphia, The Laughing Bird, Piffaro, Opera Philadelphia, Prometheus Chamber Orchestra, and Les Canards Chantants. She is also a member of The Crossing, an award-winning vocal ensemble fully dedicated to the performance of new music under the direction of Donald Nally. Recent performances for Rebecca include the title role in Marais' Sémélé with the American Bach Soloists Academy in San Francisco. This performance was the first complete performance outside of Europe of the opera and received much praise from the Baroque music community in San Francisco. Rebecca was praised for being "a light, lyric soprano with near perfect diction in French" and was described as being "commanding in her delivery, and yet appropriately subdued and compliant". She will appear as one of three soloists for performances in Philadelphia and New York and a recording of Thomas Lloyd's Bonhoeffer with The Crossing. Rebecca holds an undergraduate degree from Westminster Choir College in music education and a masters degree from Temple University in vocal performance. Before pursuing a performance career Rebecca taught vocal and general music in the Cleveland area for five years. She has maintained a private voice studio for ten years and currently teaches voice at Cheltenham High School and in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia.
About Prometheus The Prometheus Chamber Orchestra is Philadelphia's newest string ensemble. Self-conducted and self-managed, the group makes its home at the Church of the Advocate in north central Philadelphia.
