Butterfield 8 presents - LETTICE AND LOVAGE
"Enlarge! Enliven! Enlighten!"
Lettice Duffet, an expert on Elizabethan cuisine, is an indefatigable but daffy enthusiast of history and the theatre. As a tour guide at Fustian House, one of the least stately of London's stately homes, she theatrically embellishes its historical past, ultimately coming up on the radar of Lotte Schoen, an inspector from the Preservation Trust. Neither impressed nor entertained by Lettice's freewheeling history lessons, Schoen fires her. Not one to go without a fight, Lettice challenges the stoic, conventional Lotte to throw off the "mere" and look at history through theatrical eyes. This 1987 hit by the author of Equus and Amadeus (his first comedy in more than 20 years) featured triumphant Tony Award-winning performances by Dame Maggie Smith as Lettice and Margaret Tyzack as Lotte. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays, May 4 through May 26, with Thursday performances May 3 (preview) and May 24, and Sunday matinees May 13 and 27. Thursday - Saturday evening performances are at 8PM and Sunday matinees at 3PM. All performances are at Cue Productions Live, 1835 Colfax St., Concord, CA 94520. Tickets are $18 General Admission, $12 for Seniors & Students, and $10 for Students, Teachers, TBA and Actor's Equity members (at the door only).
