American Immigration Forum -- an Asian Perspective
The basic purpose of U.S. immigration policy is the creation of economic, social and other benefits to the nation as a whole such as national security, social vitality, economic advantage, family unification and refugee relief.
Recognizing that global migration and American immigration are opportunities to be capitalized upon to our national benefit, rather than a reality to be ignored, we will share, inform, listen, and learn the perspectives of our Asian community friends and neighbors on this issue.
BRING YOUR CELL PHONES or SMART PHONES! We will use them to answer short surveys during the event using SMS/text or a public web page.
IMPORTANT: This event will be recorded for possible future public distribution. By attending this event you are giving permission to have your image and comments recorded for future use. Thank you.
ONE LAST REQUEST: Please download the background PDF report from the University of Denver using the following link... this is the reference document for our discussions on Thursday: http://http://www.du.edu/issues/media/documents/2009IMMIGRATIONREPORT.pdf

Q&A
Question: |
how long will the United States financially support, provide food and clothing and shelter and medical care for those we allow to immigrate? And will the government expect to be repaid for their support? Should they have to pay a small percent extra at income tax time to help replentish the support bucket for the next person or family that immigrates? |
Answer: |
Good questions.Tough questions. Did you find anything in the University of Denver report that addresses them? See you tonight! |
