Something wicked comes to Davis Square, when The Wrathskellar opens for business this October.  A staple of the Halloween season, this annual dark encounter is an immersive blend of burlesque show and haunted house.

The Boston BeauTease present a very dark shade of burlesque in this archetypal underworld tavern where hearts, promises, and crockery are broken with abandon and secrets are hidden just below the surface.

The Wrathskellar is just off an alley in Queen Victoria's London or down a flight of stairs that Mack the Knife might have tread.  In the dim limelight, a chanteuse sings forlornly of a lost love, while The Diva plots revenge for some imagined slight and The Lost Girl wonders if she'll ever get home.

A departure from The Boston BeauTease usual mix of bubbly fun and retro glamour, The Wrathskellar is a moody whirlpool of sinister dirges, predatory laments, and torch songs in a minor key.  Instead of big band and swing, the soundtrack for The Wrathskellar features atmospheric and evocative works from Gogol Bordello, Jacques Brell, Tom Waits, and Leonard Cohen.

"A macabre, immersive experience that serves striptease with a side of screams"
--The Improper Bostonian

F.A.Q.

Do you serve food and drinks?
We have a full bar and you can order there before the show and during the intermissions (there are two).  The bar also sells some simple snacks (candy, nuts, etc.).

We encourage our patrons looking for heartier fare or a more extensive cocktail menu to patronize Saloon next door, either before or after the show.

How long is the show?
The show is about two hours, which includes two 10-minute intermissions.

Can I pick my seats in advance?
You can pick one of three sections (see above) but not the specific seat. The Wrathskellar is intimate and the acts are distributed around the space.

What if I have a big group of people? Can we all sit together?
Patrons are seated first-come, first-seated.  If you all want to sit together, arrive early.

Do you have group rates?
Yes.  If you have a group of 10 or more people, please call for more info.

It's my friends birthday/engagement/divorce/last night before they go to prison/etc.  Will you do something special for them during the show?
Probably not.  But it never hurts to ask.

Can I bring my child to this show?
That's up to you.  The Wrathskellar features adult themes like violence, drug-use, and murder.  It also features women in various stages of undress as well as some pretty nightmare inducing imagery.  You know your child better than we do.

Are there children's prices?
No.
