Chuckanut Radio Hour with Special Guests Paula Becker & Alan Stein
The Chuckanut Radio Hour is a radio variety show that began in January 2007.  Each Chuckanut Radio Hour features a guest author and includes guest musicians, performance poet Kevin Murphy, Cascadia Weekly columnist Alan Rhodes, an episode of "The Bellingham Bean" serial radio comedy, and some groaner jokes by hosts Chuck & Dee Robinson and announcer Rich Donelly. The Chuckanut Radio Hour's first guest was Erik Larson and has since included William Dietrich, Elizabeth George, J.A. Jance, Sherman Alexie, Tom Robbins and Garrison Keillor, among many others. The Radio Hour airs every Saturday evening at 6pm and Sunday at 9pm on KMRE 102.3FM. The evening's musical guest will be singer Sarah Goodin. Doors open at 6:30pm, and you must be seated by 6:45pm as the show begins promptly at 7pm. Co-sponsored by the Leopold Residence, 12th Street Shoes, & Fairhaven Village Inn.

This month's special guests are Paula Becker and Alan J. Stein, authors of The Future Remembered: The 1962 Seattle World's Fair and Its Legacy. Astronauts, Elvis, sky rides, royalty, the Kennedys, religion, topless showgirls, the Canadian tattoo, the Cold War and futurist speculation--the 1962 Seattle World's Fair had it all. The era and its people come to life in The Future Remembered--a new, coffee-table-style book filled with fascinating history, stories and pictures to celebrate the fair's upcoming 50th anniversary.

Paula Becker is a staff historian for Seattle's HistoryLink.org where her essays document the dance marathon craze of the 1920s and 1930s, war-effort knitting on the home front during World Wars I and II, the career of The Egg and I author Betty MacDonald, and numerous other subjects.

Alan J. Stein is a HistoryLink.org staff historian and award-winning author of four previous HistoryLink books. He is the Association of King County Historical Organizations' past president, and Ex Noble Grand Humbug of Doc Maynard Chapter 54-40, E Clampus Vitus.
