The Lizard King
Paris, 1971. For Jim Morrison, lead singer of The Doors, the music is almost over. In the twilight of the strangest life he's ever known, Jim is still a ferociously dangerous poet, endlessly spilling white-hot, alcohol-fueled passion into a tape recorder.
Words pour out of him as if composed by a higher force, mixed with memories of his troubled relationship with long-time girlfriend Pam Courson and the romantic rivalry with his equally hard-drinking friend, the failed actor and film director Tom Baker. Jim's poetic visions come to life and take the stage with him, bringing the audience along into the fabulous world of gods and monsters that propelled Jim to his spectacular stardom and then to - The End.
Inspired by the mythic Lost Paris Tapes, it has been 24 years since THE LIZARD KING was last staged. Playwright Jay Jeff Jones has reworked and updated his script for KACM Theatrical Productions and for the Midwestern premiere of the play in Milwaukee on September 17, 2015
