Our 5th Session will feature Jon Pontrello of The Moondoggies, Sam Watts of Ghosts I've Met, and Tess Jubran of Intisaar - in a songwriter-in-the-round style. ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Sam Watts (Ghosts I've Met) https://ghostsivemet.bandcamp.com/
Ghosts I've Met was formed by Watts in Seattle,Washington along with guitarist Ben Blankenship and cellist Brent Arnold both formerly of Seattle band Modest Mouse. Watts and company create songs that are simultaneously devastating and soothing . In 2010 they released their first collection of songs, an E.P entitled "Payphone Patience" which featured the drumming of Michael Lerner (The Antlers) and piano work from Darren Jessee (Ben Folds Five). The E.P released on Canadian folk label Yerbird marked the finding of what Watts would call his "Rhythm as a writer". A full length vinyl album followed in 2011, as well as ep. releases in 2013,2014,2015.
The group has also done 5 in-studio performances at Seattle's KEXP Radio as well as two sessions with DAYTROTTER in Rock Island, IL. Ghosts I've Met have been featured by NPR, KQED San Francisco, KEXP Seattle, The Stranger Seattle, The Portland Mercury, The Nashville Scene and Timeout New York to name a few.
"Sam Watts is like a Gram Parsons or Jay Farrar - generations removed yet tapped into music's old soul" Says Greg Vandy of Kexp Seattle "there's a loneliness that penetrates just right. This is a band to watch. Great things are ahead".
Jon Pontrello (The Moondoggies) www.moondoggiesmusic.com/
"The lone holdout who drew some inspiration from artists popular prior to 1960 was a young man who goes by the name Gene Pool (nee, Jon Pontrello). Armed with a guitar, banjo and a sharp singing voice, his set of lovely country and folk tunes spoke to universal experiences, from getting one's heart broken to more personal fare, such as getting lost in the woods and almost dying.
It was the kind of emotionally potent performance that will likely pull Pontrello out of the underground scene before too long. But whether the spotlight finds him or he remains a cult local favorite, he'll always find a home at Hollow Earth Radio."

Tess Jubran (Intisaar) https://intisaar.bandcamp.com/
Tess Jubran (born Intisaar Jubran) is a Palestinian American musician and performer based out of Seattle, Washington. With nearly 18 years of experience playing acoustic guitar and composing songs, she delivers powerful and dynamic live performances reminiscent of Joni Mitchel, Tori Amos, and Fiona Apple. Her vocal range varies from an ethereal falsetto to an aching alto, and her song-writing transcends genres like folk and indie, to which acoustic performers are often relegated. She is due to release her first full length album with cellist Natalie Mai Hall (Seattle Rock Orchestra, Macklemore's Heist Tour), in October of 2015.
