Govinda is the alter-ego of Austin based producer/composer Shane Madden. He began studying violin and composition at the age of eight and went on to study classical violin at the University of Texas where he fell in love with electronic music production. It was in Madden's pursuit of his gypsy roots that he opened his ears to music from around the world. West Coast Bass Maker NICO LUMINOUS is on a mission. His unique brand of "Glitch-a-delic Soul Whomp" fuses Melodic progressions, futuristic sound design and organic elements into sexy bass rollers. His original DJ sets journey through all tempo ranges and styles from Psychedelic Trap, Sensual Luvstep and Bouncey Mid-tempo Wobble jams. Hiphop, Dancehall, R&B, and Dub play a major influence in the Luminous sound to keep it grounded while travelling deep into to the sonic soundscape of modern synths and drum machines. Incorporating Beat-boxering, live looping, and a multitude of other instruments, his performances make for an unforgettable experience. He integrates his uplifting lyrics, and his well developed keyboard and Conga playing and often throws in his custom effects pedal belt for a show like you've never seen or heard before. Based in Los Angeles, however within the last year Nico has taken his music nationally and internationally blazing his trail nonstop at events worldwide. Hailing from the bass factory of San Francisco, WALA blends a sexy, worldly quality into the scintillating sounds of Glitch-Hop and Dubstep. She takes dancefloors on a kinetic journey from massive crunk to cultured bhangra--and every planetary highway in-between--while staying true to bass culture's grimy foundations. This has propelled the tiny purple haired producer to esteemed status and has sent her to festivals and clubs all over the world.
After colliding with Bass Music amidst the dusts of Burning Man in 2005, WALA immersed herself in the edm and festival culture of the West Coast, and in 2010, after a little push from her now close friend and mentor, ill.Gates, she left her career as an anthropologist to follow her musical roots. Fueled by a passion to encourage others to engage with music on an emotional level and possessing a musical background dating back to when she was just six years old, WALA quickly established a following in the West and beyond. Knowa Lusion AKA Knowa Knowone is a Bay Area turntablist/producer and co-owner of the record label Street Ritual. He is considered one of the founders of Glitch Hop and an influential innovator in American bass music culture. Fans know Knowa as someone who vibes off of the crowd's energy, directly connecting to his audience and raising them to a euphoric and ecstatic state. His live sets are funky, fun and have every single person on the dancefloor. Originally from the East Coast, Knowa began his professional career as a DJ, producer and promoter over a decade ago, cutting his teeth at raves and drum and bass events from New York to Miami. His first Hip Hop crew was recognized by The Zulu Nation, and the roots and values of HipHop are still a strong influence on his music. Knowa's music combines banging midtempo and breakbeat with deep bass, glitchy sounds, ethnic rhythms, and psychedelia to create a sound that stands out as uniquely Knowa Lusion. Knowa has performed with almost every influential artist in electronic bass music, playing shows around the globe and festivals including Symbiosis Gathering, Burning Man, The Boom Festival (Portugal), and Electric Picnic (Ireland). Knowa has collaborated with many artists including Ill.Gates, David Starfire and The Human Experience. Knowa's full length album with Sleepyhead as Knowsleep, released in 2008, put Knowa on the map as one of the pioneers for glitch hop and dubstep in the US. Knowa has been releasing music on San Francisco's premiere bass music powerhouse label Muti Music for the last five years, and his production has been highly revered. As an innovator in bass music, Knowa was featured on the first Transnational Dubstep Compilation, released by Generation Bass and Six Degrees Records. Guda is a constant grab bag of flavor and texture. Guda procures a low end that is an obvious salute to west coast bass music, yet his glitchy whomps seem a distant cousin to the UK's glitch-hop scene. While Guda remains fresh, exploratory and eclectic- he stays true to his extensive background in jazz with complex harmonies and polyrhythmic phrasing. At Guda's musical core lies the exploration on the frontier of melding live instruments to synthetic elements. The calloused and glitchy synths which feel foreign and otherworldly are serenaded by the organic yet robust sounds of rich live Tablas and a soulful yet introspective Saxophone. This traversing and boundaryless genre hopper got his start from Portland, Oregon.
