yMUSIC: Hailed by NPR's Fred Child as "one of the groups that has really helped to shape the future of classical music," yMusic is a group of six New York City instrumentalists flourishing in the overlap between the pop and classical worlds. Their virtuosic execution and unique configuration (string trio, flute, clarinet, and trumpet) has attracted the attention of high profile collaboratorsfrom Dirty Projectors to My Brightest Diamondand more recently inspired an expanding repertoire of original works by some of today's foremost composers. Most recently on the road and in the studio with Ben Folds, we are excited to have yMusic join us for this special evening. FOUNDERS: Comprised of some of New York City's most dynamic classical musicians, Founders formed in the spring of this year as a collaborative effort to devote time and energy toward the members' own works. Their pieces range from Appalachian Folk originals to classically modernized Radiohead covers. Led by Juilliard trained trumpeter, Brandon Ridenour, find more about FOUNDERS here: http://www.foundersmusic.org/
ASPHALT ORCHESTRA is a radical new street band that brings ambitious processional music to the mobile masses. Created by the founders of the "relentlessly inventive" new music presenter Bang on a Can (New York Magazine), Asphalt Orchestra unleashes innovative music from concert halls, rock clubs and jazz basements and takes it to the streets and beyond. The band brings together some of the most exciting rock, jazz and classical players in New York City who The New York Times called "12 top-notch brass and percussion players.".
