Fury Theatre & Badass Broads present the SAST 4 production of Nobody's Wench: Six Tales of Pirate Women on the Rolling Seas.
More feared than Bluebeard, Blackbeard or any ol' Beard are the pirate women from history presented in our 4th annual Short Attention Span Theatre new plays festival. Get ready for adventure with Grace O'Malley, Red Delahaye, Sadie the Goat, Ching Shih, Jeanne de Clisson and Anne Bonny & Mary Read as they slash their way across history and pirate lore! Nobody's Wench attacks each story with gusto and more stage combat than an Errol Flynn movie could shake a stick at. Featuring choreography by David Woolley (The Swordsmen), Glenese Hand (Bare Knuckle Productions) and Fury's artistic director Mark Dodge, Nobody's Wench is sure to impress! The show premieres on International Talk-Like-a-Pirate Day, September 19th, so get ready for a swashbuckling good time!
Nobody's Wench kicks off our 5th season with an exciting new collaboration with Badass Broads, a new performance group dedicated to producing shows featuring women from history that took gender stereotypes and kicked their collective asses. Now in its fourth year Short Attention Span Theatre features plays from Chicago and all over the country are submitted each year then chosen for production by our festival directors. Cast with Chicago's local talent, we bring to life works of all genre. Always intriguing, edgy, surprising and affordable at a $15 or Pay-what-you-can price.
Nobody's Wench is partly funded by a 2015 Part-time Faculty Development Grant from Columbia College.
