Louise Dubin and The Franchomme Project: A Concert Celebrating the album's September release on the Delos label
TimeOutNY Critic's Pick!
The four cellists on the Franchomme Project album join forces in this concert of Franchomme's rarely heard music for cello duo and cello quartets. The program features some of the best works by this renowned 19th century cellist-composer, including four of his soulful nocturnes, his Chopin transcriptions for cello quartet, and more. There will also be a cameo appearance by pianist Hélène Jeanney in the bravura Air Irlandais, Varié for cello and piano, a work Franchomme wrote in 1841, the year that our resonant venue, the landmark John Street Church, was completed.

Auguste Franchomme was the finest French cellist of the 19th century, a dear friend of Chopin, and a fine composer himself.  The pieces featured in this concert have been undeservedly out of print since the 1800s, and many receive their premiere recordings on The Franchomme Project album.

Subways 2/3/4/5/A/C/J/Z all within one minute walk of venue.

If you love the cello, Chopin, or Romantic music, you won't want to miss this one-time New York City performance by terrific cellists Louise Dubin, Julie Bruskin, Kathy Cherbas, and Sæunn Thorsteinsdóttir.  Meet the artists at the garden reception after the performance.
