First Annual Nanofest (2011: Guitar)
Peter Blanchette curates the premier a two-night micro festival celebrating new guitar music!
The November 4 concert will feature the revival of Peter Blanchette's critically-acclaimed European chamber jazz project Had Miles Met Maurice ("Pearls of personal, musical mastery"... Jorgen Falck, NPR's All Things Considered) with two Brooklyn-based, Tanglewood-alums, trumpeter/sound designer Josh Frank and bassist Shawn Conley. Sharing the bill, will be Duo Orfeo featuring guitarists Joseph Ricker and Jamie Balmer- performing their electric guitar arrangements of works by the minimalist masters Arvo Pärt and Valentin Silvestrov.
The November 5 concert will feature The Juanito Pascual Trio - an extraordinary evening of new flamenco music and dance with Juanito Pascual ("one of the hottest flamenco guitarists in recent years" -National Public Radio), violinist Rohan Gregory, and Flamenco dancer and singer Barbara Martinez ("Something fresh" -The New York Times).
