Farms & Fables

Farms & Fables is an original play developed in collaboration with three family farms in Southern Maine. In the summer of 2010, four theater artists went to work on three Maine farms. Following a research process of direct, hands-on experience in the fields and weekly story-circle conversations with farmers, this play explores farm transfer among generations amid the joys and challenges of running a farm business. Some of the farmers who participated in the play's research process will also be appearing onstage. The project has been funded by The MAP Fund, the Ella Lyman Cabot Trust, the Maine Arts Commission, and the Maine Humanities Council.
