Blood, Sweat + Vinyl: Music + Film Festival
After several West coast screenings and recognition at worldwide film festivals, the independent music documentary "Blood, Sweat + Vinyl: DIY in the 21st Century" - created by San Francisco director and editor Kenneth Thomas - is premiering in the Bay Area. Coinciding with the premiere of the feature-length film is the release of the limited edition 2-DVD Box Set, available for sale at the event.
The premiere is being transformed into a Film + Music festival by including very special performances by two bands featured in the documentary: Evangelista and Oxbow. The film will precede these headlining bands and screen in its entirety. An additional band - Ides of Gemini - curated for their direct association with the film and their own independent spirit, will perform in the earlier portion of the evening.
"Blood, Sweat + Vinyl"is a captivating documentary and the product of five years of obsessive filming of live concert footage, exclusive interviews, and historic documentation focusing on three fiercely independent music labels and their bands.
Featuring Neurosis, ISIS, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Pelican, Oxbow, Evangelista, Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra, Cave In, and many others whose music and art found ideal homes in the artist-run record labels of Hydra Head, Neurot, and Constellation.
