MADCatfish Blues Festival
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Enter Gate 5 for FREE parking. Valet parking available for $10. Tickets available for sale at the box office starting at 9:30am both days. Cash, credit cards and debit cards accepted. PRE-EVENT, ONLINE TICKET PURCHASES ENCOURAGED TO AVOID LINES AT THE BOX OFFICE. This event is NOT in the infield. No umbrellas, lawn chairs or blankets are needed. All festival seats are located under the massive Clubhouse canopy for "all day shade" for mainstage performances both days 11am-6pm. No coolers, lunch bags or other containers with outside food or beverages are allowed this year. Food, beverages and full-bar services available for purchase from Santa Anita Race Track concessions. We strongly recommend that you arrive at least one (1) hour prior to the start of the festival, or the start time for the artist you are arriving to see. There is another HUGE event taking place at Santa Anita Race Track during the weekend and it is important to give yourself time to park and enter the venue.
MADCatfish Blues Festival will add to the rich history of Santa Anita Race Track when legendary blues and jazz radio personality James Janisse takes the mic Labor Day Weekend to introduce the hottest line-up of blues recording artists and bands in Southern California. The main stage will be sizzling from 11am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday (Sept 5th & 6th). On Saturday night at 7pm, the party will continue inside the beautiful Concourse Room with an after-hours MADCatfish Comedy & Blues Juke Joint hosted by iconic actor Ernest L. Thomas.
Hilton Garden Inn in Arcadia is the host hotel for this Labor Day Weekend, travel destination venue and is located less than 1/4 mile from the Clubhouse Entrance to the festival.
MADCatfish Blues Festival is designed as a blues amusement park for adults, with the music providing the only rides needed to enjoy the experience. This year's line-up features two days of back-to-back, power-packed, foot-stomping blues by an impressive line-up of recording artists:
Join us for the biggest blues splash of the season at the historic Santa Anita Race Track this Labor Day Weekend. Enjoy slammin' performances by Southern Cali's blues royalty on the mainstage from 11am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday (September 5th & 6th). As the sun prepares to set on Saturday, the party moves into the beautiful Concourse Room for the After-hours Comedy & Blues Juke Joint from 7pm to 10pm.
Who's on the on the hook to perform? Legendary Barbara Morrison has invited actor/vocalist Jay Jackson to join her for a couple of songs; "L.A.'s Blues Virtuoso" guitarist Ray Bailey who will close the show both days with a special tribute to B.B. King - his set will feature guest vocalist Kenyatta Mackey aka "BabyDoll; "L.A.'s Best Latin Blues Band" the Delgado Brothers); Japanese sensation and guitarist Yu Ooka who has made his mark on L.A.'s jazz and blues scene will be joined by gold record winning singer and prolific songwriter, Brenda Lee Eager; The Scorch Sisters will take the stage with an all-female line-up to deliver their special brand of musical gumbo; Bassist Leslie Baker and her band, featuring vocal stylist Marguaret Love; Sunnie Paxson & Mark Vincent All-Stars (Rayford Griffin on drums, Sekou Bunch on bass and Rock Deadrick on percussions & vocals); Corny Mims & and the kNOW IT ALLz!; At only 11-years old, Richard Cameron Lovely will be the youngest artist on the billing, as he makes his blues festival debut's.
We're honored to have legendary jazz and blues radio personality known as "L.A.'s Original Gentleman of Jazz", James Janisse as Master of Ceremonies. As a voice familiar to millions as one of the southland's most popular on-air personalities during 14 years behind the mic at KKJZ 88.1FM, James Janisse launched his own internet radio station this summer - KJMJRadio.com, which is the official radio sponsor for the MADCatfish Blues Festival. He will be recording segments of the festival and interviews with artists for later broadcast. No umbrellas, lawn chairs or blankets needed! All festival seats are located trackside in the stadium, under the massive Clubhouse canopy for all-day-shade! Whatever your preference... Preferred Section? or General Seating? ... it's your choice.
Actor Ernest L. Thomas will take the mic to host Saturday's night's Juke Joint to introduce some of the hottest comics in the country, including King Kedar, Edwonda White and Keith Morris. One of L.A.'s esteemed "Jazz Living Legend Award" recipients, Marguaret Love will put an exclamation on the first day of the festival with some downhome, foot-stomping blues to close the evening.
