2011 Mayor's Arts Awards
YOU ARE INVITED

Please join Mayor Gregor Robertson on Thursday, October 6 at 6 p.m. when he and City Council present the 2011 Mayor's Arts Awards at a reception at the Caprice nightclub at 967 Granville.

Each year a Vancouver artist or community member, in each of 14 categories, who has made a significant contribution to the creative life of our city, is nominated by a jury of peers convened by the Alliance for Arts and Culture.

Mayor Robertson will pay tribute to these valued members of the City's cultural community at an Awards Reception on Thursday, September 29 at the Caprice nightclub, hosted by broadcaster and author Bill Richardson.

Each of this year's honourees in the ten Studio and Performing Arts categories has selected an "emerging artist" in their discipline who demonstrates the promise of the next generation, with each Honouree and Emerging Artist receiving a $2,500 cash prize.

The Mayor's Arts Awards, established by City Council in 2006, recognize established and emerging artists in a wide variety of disciplines, from literary to culinary to performing and visual arts.

"The City of Vancouver is proud to recognize these outstanding individuals, who have shared their creativity and passion for the arts with our city. They truly represent the breadth and diversity of Vancouver's creative sector," said Mayor Robertson in announcing this year's recipients.

Individual awards are also made in the categories of Volunteerism, Business Support, Philanthropy and Arts Board Member of the Year.
