This Kind of Love: A Film by Jeanne Hallacy
The Bay Area is home to a thriving LGBQT community with a long history of struggle for human rights and justice. It's also the adopted home and chosen destination of many immigrants, political dissidents, and refugees from Burma. Some cities in the region -- Berkeley, Oakland, and San Francisco in particular -- have consistently shown an interest in Burma's welfare by passing resolutions and ordinances to support Burma's fight for freedom. This Kind of Love, which recounts Burma's historic events, can foster a better understanding between the local activists and the overseas Burmese-Americans. The story of Aung Myo Min, an openly gay human rights champion in conservative Burma, will inspire those combating discrimination to stand up for themselves.
