Dalia Carella Dance Collective 10-Year Retrospective
September 23 and 24, 2011 The Dalia Carella Dance Collective Presents a 10-Year Retrospective of Global Fusion Works, celebrating ten years of innovation from the Ancient to the Avante-garde!
A world-renowned fusion artist, with nearly 40 years of immersion in dances from around the world, Ms. Carella brings to the stage traditional and contemporary dance theater from the Near and Middle East (including Egypt and Turkey), India, Spain, and Latin America infused with a contemporary Western sensibility. She founded the DCDC in 2001 to fulfill a larger vision of fusing traditional and contemporary forms. As DCDC's work evolves, it continues to transcend labels and forms, through theatrical staging and contemporary inspirations. The 10 Year Retrospective show celebrates the Collective's diversity, and includes dances from the critically acclaimed 2004 off-Broadway Ruth St. Denis tribute show "In Search of a Goddess", which The Associated Press called a "passionate fusion of diverse cultures." Claudia LaRocco. Other featured works will come from the Collective's 2006 cabaret blowout, "Cabaret de la Nuit" and other, more recent, post-modern creations such as its 2011 premiere - "La Isla Perdida", featuring a musical Score by Mal Stein, and Costumes painted by Robert Tuska.
