Bess Rogers/ Allie Moss/ Ian Axel
Bess Rogers, Allie Moss, and Ian Axel each performing a 35 minute solo set. local opener Kristin Gaerlan
IAN AXEL began his career when his friend Chad happened to hear a song in-progress that Ian was humming between classes. Chad was so inspired he forced his friend to take lessons from a West Village voice coach and happily footed the bill. Ian's typical 20something job -- working at a Manhattan Apple Store -- suddenly became not-so-typical when his bosses caught wind of his musical talents, inviting him to perform at dozens of stores around the country, and including his songs on the playlists of hundreds of their stores worldwide. In 2011, Ian "arrived" when he released his debut full-length "This is the New Year," an album of piano-driven anthems that has received a wave of grassroots internet support & television exposure. The title track came into public consciousness with over one million Youtube views. His music has since been featured on "One Tree Hill," as the theme song to MTV documentary series "I Used to Be Fat." Ian's live show has an energy which recalls the intimacy and energy of performers like Regina Spektor and Elton John. He's brought that energy to dozens of live dates -- as a duo with Chad, on opening gigs for Ingrid Michelson and Evan Dando, and to wider exposure with appearances on the Rachael Ray Show and La Blototheque's world-famous Take Away Shows. However, each are emerging singer-songwriters in their own right, and both will perform solo sets on this tourl. Bess's latest full length release was "Bess Rogers presents Bess Rogers" in 2010, though she's received more notice lately for her song "We Believe In You" recently featured in a nationally televised Mott's advertising campaign, and a bus tour schedule throughout the Northeast. Her music has previously been featured in television shows like CW's "One Tree Hill" and TNT's "Raising the Bar" Bess Rogers / "I Don't Worry": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3mwxrtLv9E This fall Allie will be supporting her new LP Late Bloomer, a 10 song LP produced by Sam Kassirer (Josh Ritter, Erin McKeown). It kicks off with the song "Corner," a left-field hit last year when British Telecom featured it in an advertisement -- quickly racking up over a half-million views on YouTube. Other songs have been featured on CW's Pretty Little Liars and ABC's Brothers & Sisters.
